Starlight: what do you see in the sky?

People think in patterns. Thousands and thousands of years ago our ancestors looked at the night sky and saw not just stars there but heroes, animals, vehicles and so on. Now the sky is divided into 88 constellations.

Frankly speaking, the constellations’ shapes vaguely correspond to their names. For example Ursa Major (Great Bear) looks like a dipper more than like a bear. But what if the stars formed the shapes almost similar to our surrounding objects? As they are located in three-dimensional space, the matter would be just in finding the proper point of view. You can find such a point and enjoy the picturesque sky if you play Starlight, the great game by Kostiantyn Stankevych.

As the game starts you see a peaceful night sky with a full moon, chaotic shape and occasional shooting stars. But as you move your mouse the sky rotates and once shapeless constellation acquires its form.

There are three game modes:
Relax mode is my favourite one. You just spend good time rotating the patterns and listening to the relaxing unobtrusive piano soundtrack.There are 64 levels featuring easily-recognizable patterns: great buidings, zodiacs, plants, animals, aircraft etc. There are Elvis and Lohn Lennon there, too!  If you got stuck you can always see the walkthrough (as for me, I was in need of a hint on the level with the guitar).

Time Run mode is similar to the relax mode, but your score depends on how fast you complete each level.
And playing Timer mode you’re given only 30 seconds to complete as many levels as you can.

As it is stated in the credits, this game was inspired by Coign of Vantage. But, utilising the same idea: the rotation of the 3D-object which creates various 2D-pictures, they are completely different. So, welcome to play StarLight, the real gem among puzzle games!
